Something for Nearly Everyone.
And we do mean everyone. If you're in the market for a home, Reston's neighborhoods offer a range of housing options, styles, and prices--from subsidized, single-family homes to lakefront homes over $1 million and new, upscale condos in Reston's Town Center.
Residential Appeal.
Reston's neighborhoods are designed for a distinctly natural atmosphere. Residential streets are slow-paced and quiet, tucked off major roads and away from the town's businesses. It isn't uncommon to see people out jogging, pushing baby strollers, or simply walking to work on Reston's network of paths. Also, village centers scattered throughout the town offer residents basic, convenient services.
As if that weren't enough, recreational opportunities abound. Lake Fairfax Park, with its pools and tennis courts, is just one of these many popular places. The Walker Nature Education Center in South Reston covers 72 acres, and the many walking paths throughout Reston provide even more convenient ways to escape.
Reston is fairly new in relation to other Fairfax County communities; consequently, its founders have had the benefit of concerted planning from the beginning. Wherever you choose to live in Reston--whether in the southern or northern portion--all houses are built under the concept of good siting (with an average of 1/3 to 1/2 acre per house), with plenty of acreage then set aside for all to enjoy Reston's natural surroundings.
Young and Old Alike.
With the number of young and single people moving into the Reston area for high-tech jobs, the entire demographic spectrum is well represented. People of all ages now live in this town, sought after for its community amenities and quality of life.
Housing Options, Styles, and Prices.
From townhouses to single-family homes to condos, Reston offers a variety of housing options and construction, including subsidized housing and upscale, new condo construction in the Reston Town Center. Condos start at an affordable $60,000 and go as high as $200,000 and above; styles range from traditional to high-rise to garden-style.
Of course, there are a range of townhouses and single-family homes as well, including traditional colonials and more contemporary styles (homes vary from 30 years old to brand new, though there is no longer much new construction). Many homes are affordable, ranging upward from $100,000; while some single family homes go for under $200,000, the majority range from the mid-$200,000s to lakefront homes priced at $1 million and above. The more affluent townhouses and single-family homes feature property overlooking one of Reston's lakes or local golf courses.
